Dr. Drew Hestad

Owner & Veterinarian

Dr. Hestad's Bio

Born in Ada, OK, and raised in Georgia, Dr. Drew Hestad grew up showing and training cutting horses. Because of his participation in cutting horse events, Dr. Drew won several scholarships which helped to put him through college. After obtaining his undergraduate degree, Dr. Drew moved to Lexington and managed a farm before going back to school to obtain his Master’s Degree, then going on to veterinary school.

After graduating from the Auburn University CVM, Dr. Drew is now back in Central Kentucky. You can see Dr. Drew’s true passion for veterinary medicine at AMC during the week, but during his time off he is usually traveling the state with his wife and three small children. According to Dr. Drew, “One of the things that I love the most about being a veterinarian is the thing that I spent most of my life doing: taking care of animals, and helping others take care of their animals.”

Dr. Hughes' Bio

I graduated from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. Since then, I have pursued advanced surgical training through a variety of specialty internships, an orthopedic fellowship at Washington State University, and countless hands-on advanced training courses to further my skills and abilities. What I love most about being a veterinary surgeon is that I get to keep learning and growing, all while helping families get the care they need for beloved pets. Outside of work, I like traveling with my wife, Ericka, skiing, game nights, and plotting ridiculous costumes and activities for our ragtag crew of dogs and cats. www.lexvetsurgery.com

Receptionist

Brandie's Bio

I joined the AMC team in November of 2019. I have 10+ years working in reception/customer service and thrives to give clients, their pets and families the best care and attention they deserve. I grew up and living in Versailles, but have adopted Frankfort as a second home. I enjoy the tight knit community and all the wonderful residents and their pets I’ve been able to meet. When I’m not helping our clients, I enjoy time with my husband and 3 children. We go camping and to the lake as much as possible. With 3 children, school and sports are important so not much time gets spent relaxing. Our 5.5 year old chocolate lab, Oakley, and our 1.5 year old chihuahua, ChiChi, are both cherished additions to the madness. They think they’re human and one of the kids, we think they are too! Family is very important to me and I’m very proud to be part of the AMC family.
